SIMONA® Liner Materials
Maximum safety for linings and composite designs
SIMONA® Liner Materials offer a high level of safety for the storage and transport of chemically aggressive media and can be used for a wide range of applications, even under vacuum. Our extensive portfolio of materials is ideal for lining steel vessels and for GFRP composite structures. The various bonding agents create an optimum mechanical bridge between the lining and the carrier material to be protected from corrosion.
A selection from the product range of SIMONA® Liner Materials is provided below:
Special properties
- Alpha-nucleated polypropylene homo-polymer (PP-H AlphaPlus): Reduced permeation through liner due to the α-crystalline modification of the homo-polymer liner components (PP-H)
- Good three-dimensional stretchability of polyester lining (SK) in thermoforming
- In the case of applications with lightly diffusing media (primarily low-molecular-weight alkali and acids) the suitability of the material has to be checked by the SIMONA Technical Service Centre
- Maximum continuous operating temperature (depending on application): up to 80°C
Special properties
- Higher operating temperature (compared with polyester lining)
- Polyvinylidene fluoride (PVDF): Very good chemical resistance to a large number of aqueous and organic media (except highly alkaline media)
- The combination with the three-dimensional fibreglass lining allows moulding to meet standard requirements
- The bonding agent is largely resistant to hydrolysis and reacts with hydrogen fluoride (hydrofluoric acid) and at high temperatures also with hydrogen chloride (hydrochloric acid) and ammonium or its derivatives
- Maximum continuous operating temperature (depending on application): up to 100°C
Special properties
- Ethylene chlorotrifluoroethylene (ECTFE): In some cases much lower diffusion sensitivity to many aqueous and organic media (compared with other liner materials)
- The combination with aramid lining, which is three-dimensionally stretchable, allows a wide range of shapes e.g. for the manufacture of dished boiler heads
- In the case of applications with lightly diffusing media (primarily low-molecular-weight alkali and acids) the suitability of the material has to be checked by the SIMONA Technical Service Centre
- Maximum continuous operating temperature (depending on application): up to 110°C
Special properties
- The identical chemical resistance capacity of the liner components polypropylene copolymer (PP-C) and the bonding agent, a polypropylene lining, allows longer use of the composite system in the case of permeating media
- Very good three-dimensional stretchability in thermoforming
- No need to remove the lining around the weld seam area during welding
- Maximum continuous operating temperature (depending on application): up to 90°C
Special properties
- Option of direct lamination of pipes stress-relieved by heat treatment
- Electrically conductive polyvinylidene fluoride (PVDF-EL): Used in processes containing solvents
- The chemically pre-treated surface is resistant to hydrolysis and many low-molecular- weight acids or alkalis and does not need to be removed before welding
- The longer diffusion path generally results in an extended service life for the composite system (compared with a glass fibre lining)
- Maximum continuous operating temperature (depending on application): up to 90°C
