New CPVC welding rod generation

Products

For the last 40 years, semi-finished products made out of post-chlorinated PVC (CPVC) in the form of sheets, pipes and fittings have been an integral part of the range of material choices available to the global chemical plant and equipment industry, particularly when it comes to the safe transportation of corrosive media. A key technology for combining semi-finished parts with pure thermoplastics and liner connections is rod welding or extruder welding.

Ever since 2012, SIMONA AG, has worked with raw material and compound manufacturer Lubrizol Advanced Materials Europe BVBA (Brussels, Belgium) and plastics producer Georg Fischer DEKA GmbH, on the development, quality standards, field testing and market launch of a new welding rod generation. The end result is a joint, clearly defined product.

Trouble-free processing in accordance with DVS 2207-3
A ring test carried out in 2014/15 with 14 European processing partners to test its weldability – evaluated by an independent, accredited test institute – established the trouble-free processing properties of this new-generation system in accordance with DVS 2207-3 guidelines.

The new CPVC welding rod is available in d 3 mm and 4 mm.
